Mark Ellcessor

Senior Pastor

Raised in Delaware County, Mark graduated from Cowan in 1979.  He then attended Purdue University (BOILER UP!), earning a degree in mathematics.  Mark’s ship then sailed to Duke University, where he achieved a Master of Divinity in 1986.  Mark is married to his stunning wife, Lisa, and together they have four beautiful girls: Joy, Page, Beth and Lyn.  Mark has been on staff at Selma UMC since 2002.

Mark loves Selma UMC because the people are passionate about God and making a difference in the community and the world.

Jerry Gillespie

Administration and Connections Ministry

Jerry’s expertise is all things administrative. He oversees personnel, finance, facilities and communications.  He also leads the ministries that helps people get connected at Selma UMC, from being a first-time guest to a full-fledged member.   A 1991 graduate of Wapahani High School, Jerry has also earned a Bachelor’s in psychology from Indiana University and a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary. Jerry is married to Jennifer, also from the area, and together they have three children: Meghan, Justin and Peyton. Jerry has been on staff at Selma UMC since 2011.

Todd Austin

Worship Arts Ministries

Todd joined the Selma UMC staff in 2009, bringing a wide variety of experiences in and out of ministry. Although he has been involved in adult, youth and children’s ministry areas of the church, Todd currently oversees worship arts. Todd loves being married to his incredible wife, Sue, and has two children: Caleb (wife Mallory) and Lauren.

Lisa Ellcessor

Youth Ministries

Energy-packed Lisa Ellcessor loves the Lord and people. And she is passionate about her job as Director of Youth Ministries.

Sue Austin

Children’s Ministries

Sue has been a member of Selma UMC since 1992. She volunteered in children’s ministries, worship team and small group ministry before joining the staff as Children’s Ministries Director in 2010. Serving children has been a part of her professional life, as well, having taught at Royerton Elementary for fifteen years. When Sue isn’t serving children, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Todd, and her children Caleb (wife, Mallory) and Lauren.

What does Sue love most at Selma UMC? “I love the people and their desire to serve God and others. I also love that our church offers Godly teaching, amazing worship, a great youth group, and opportunities to be involved for adults and kids. We offer something for everyone. I love being a part of a this church and feel blessed to be a part of children’s ministry.”

Lori Neal

Office Administrator and Congregational Care

Lori has been a part of Selma UMC since 2008, along with her husband, Jon, and children, Dru, Brandon, Megan, Olivia and Lilly. Lori started as the office administrator for The Compass Church in 2009, then transferred to the Selma campus in 2010.

Lori loves people and her job, and she looks forward to lifting your spirits as you enter the Selma UMC lobby.

Susan Tonner


Since 2010, Susan has served as bookkeeper for all campuses and preschool & daycare ministries of Selma UMC. Susan loves children. Not only has she served as Selma’s Children’s Ministries Director, but also worked for Muncie City Schools for twenty-nine years, her latest role being Principal & Vocational Director of the Muncie Area Career Center. Susan is the mother of two children, Tom Koebcke and Polly Hines (husband, David), and has three grandchildren.  In her spare time, Susan loves to travel and read.

Susan Shreve

Little Learners Preschool & Daycare

Since 2000, Susan has been providing a safe, clean and fun environment for children to learn and be cared for at Selma UMC. God has blessed her and Little Learners with a wonderful staff, an amazing facility and a church that cares about the success of the children. Happily married to Brad, Susan has two children: Ethan and Emma. Aside from children, Susan also enjoys camping with her family, cooking and being in the great outdoors.
