What are services like at Selma UMC?

Selma United Methodist Church has two services each Sunday morning that last one hour and fifteen minutes each.  One at 9:00 and 10:45am.  We celebrate with contemporary worship songs using a variety of instruments including accoustic and electric guitars, keyboard and drums.  Mark Ellcessor, pastor of Selma UMC, delivers God’s Word in an upbeat, often humerous style that encourages seekers, new believers, and veterans of the faith to grow in their walk with God.

Selma UMC utilizes video, drama, dance, and other worship arts during our services.  Children and youth often share their gifts and talents during our worship services as well.  Selma UMC is family friendly and loves children.  Children from Kindergarten through fifth grade experience their own worship service held in our recently constructed Kidsatorium.

What are the messages like?

Feel free to download or listen to Pastor Mark’s latest message found here on our website in order to get a taste of what Selma UMC has to offer you and your family.

What should I wear?

We dress casually at Selma UMC, and you can too.  Suits, ties, and dresses are not required or even requested, and you can feel free to dress up as much as you would like or down as much as you would like.  Many attendees wear shorts and sport shirts in the summer, and jeans in the cooler months.  At Selma UMC, there is no dress code- so be comfortable.

What do I do with my children?

Children, infant through 5 years old can join our nursery which is found on the right side of the main hallway just before the sanctuary.  Feel free to register your children and drop them off for the entire service.

Children, Kindergarten through 5th grade can be registered for children’s church in the children’s wing atrium which can be found to the left of the main hallway just before the sanctuary.  Children enjoy their own worship and teaching times while adults are in the sanctuary.  Sign your children up for our children’s services and securely pick them up when the service is over.
